Quilting Design For Quilt

This is how I come up with quilting designs for my quilts.   I love drawing on paper better then drawing on the computer,  a little more relaxing for me.
First I drew out the four blocks that are in the corner of my quilt....
BY THE WAY THE TABS AT THE TOP DON'T WORK,  THEY ARE STATIONARY, CAN'T POST IN EACH SECTION

I start with a pencil design----   I'm using a oval because that is what is in the center of the quilt and I like to bring the center motif out in other parts of the quilt.

When I like the drawing I mark over the pencil marks with a black archival ink pen (waterproof)  Then Staedtler Mars plastic eraser made for film or velum.

added a few more feathers
OK,  I like it!

                                                             Now for mirrored images

That would be great for a border

This is what I was looking for.....

Like this one two....    all these will be digitized for patterns to sale.

Next I folded my paper in half  keeping with the grid line and traced the pattern

Now all I have to do is put the design  under quilt in each corner and mark it with blue wash out pen

Just need to load the quilt  AGAIN  AND GET  ER FINISHED  lololol

Oh yes that will be part of  my border design
Enjoy!

Vintage Christmas Quilt Blocks

Will I came up with a few designs for the blocks.    Didn't use some of the designs in my drawing, change my mind.  lol   It didn't have the look I was going for.    The red dash lines are basting lines.      Anya asked me this morning if I pin my quilts......     I don't,   Sharon Schamber showed me how to  baste  the top half of the quilt and stabilize.    I quilted all the red areas first,   then basted the bottom half and stabilized by quilting all the red area.     This way I can roll the quilt back and forth if  I need to.

The back looks kind of lacy.......    Sure love the Glide thread!!
Finished the quilt a little while ago,  will take photos in the morning and post.

Vintage Christmas Quilt

I pieced this quilt a few years ago,   man you can really tell by the piecing.    I found this old vintage panel back in 2005 before I started longarm quilting and one day decided on a block pattern,  pieced it and this quilt layed around waiting to be quilted.    I figured it was time......

I don't usually have a hard time coming up with design ideas but I think my brain has been  in a fog lately.     Should have this finished up by tomorrow.

YUP!!   I took the other red and white quilt off the frame for this one.

Winter Wonderland Home From Funeral

We got this surprise this  morning and more on the way.

Have winter storm warning out for the next couple of days.

It feels good to be home again,   this past month was really hectic.   Kevin had the most beautiful ceremony that I have seen in a long time.    So many people,   Military, fire department, police department,  military humvee's,  limos,  so many.    My heart goes out to my brother.........   they gave  my brother the flag off the casket.
My brother is a disabled vet,   was in the Marine Corp for 27 years.
